Moin moin ihr Leichtmatrosen! Heute fand ein kleines schmuckes Album aus dem beschaulichen Muotathal mitten in der Schweiz seinen Weg mitten in meinen Braukessel. Genannt wird das gute Stück dann wohl CALL TO MIND und stammt von den bekannten Hard-Rockern Polution. Bekannt vor allem für robusten Rock und als Support für Bands wie Sodom oder Krokus, bringen sie am 29.Mai über Powerblast Records ihre neue Platte raus. Aber gucken wir uns mal an, was die Band in Zusammenarbeit mit Tommy Vetterli (Coroner, Kreator) da so gebastelt hat.

Solider Einstieg

Die Band lebt, nach eigener Aussage, von ihrer Bodenständigkeit. Was auch absolut hinkommt wenn man sich den ersten Track „Don’t Wanna Leave Her“ so reinorgelt wie ein leckeres Schweizer Käsefondue. Man rechnet ja mit Hard-Rock, bekommt den aber mit einen leichten Touch Rockabilly-Feeling geliefert. Wobei ich mir da nicht sicher bin, ob das nun gewollt ist oder nicht. Klingt auf jeden Fall gut und ehrlich Bodenständig. „Experience“ braucht sich als Song auch kaum zu verstecken, gibt euch ganz robuste Musik an die Hand, die so auch in der nächsten Stammkneipe für Rocker gespielt werden kann und sollte. Und wer das Ganze dann auf die Spitze treiben will und was fürs Radio braucht: „Never Let Go“ bietet sich dafür ganz ruhig an. Nicht zu aufdringlich, aber bestimmt. „Dreams“ lässt einen eine Ruhige Mitte des Albums erwarten, haut aber einen sympathischen Rhythmus raus, der es in sich hat.

Intermezzo zur Mitte:

Stellt euch vor ihr seid mit euren Sozius auf dem nach frischen Motoröl und Benzin riechenden Bike unterwegs, fahrt gerade über die Kuppe eines Berges irgendwo in der Schweiz und dann kommt der klare Gebirgssee in Sicht, ihr hört über dem Dröhnen eures Motors schon fast die Liveband von der provisorisch aufgebauten Bühne und riecht das Bier bereits. Ab diesem Moment wisst ihr, dass euer Wochenende voll von Sex, Alkohol und Rock’n’Roll sein wird.

„S.O.D.“

Gibt euch genau das Feeling und begleitet euch bei der Zielgeraden und während ihr euer Bike abstellt und das erste Bier in die Hand gedrückt bekommt. Und „Bittersweet“ geht zwar lyrisch um das Ende einer Party, aber hey! Die absolut markante und rauchige Stimme von Sänger Pascal Gwerder ist übrigens ein richtig gutes Merkmal der Band und fügt sich nahtlos in die harten Riffs ein. Wenn wir also beim heraufbeschworenen Bild bleiben wollen, begleiten euch „Silence In Fall“ und „Last Goodbye“ beim Abbau der Zelte nach einem harten Wochenende mit etwas ruhigeren Rock, der irgendwo noch im Kern hart genug ist, um zur Band zu passen.

Fazit:

Polution können aus einem Vorrat an Erfahrung zurückgreifen und tun dies auch ausgiebig. Leider bleibt die Vielfalt dezent auf der Strecke, was dem Album aber trotzdem ganze 5/6 Schädel einbringt und für alle Fans von Hard-Rock ein absoluter Pflichtkauf wird.

The fine piece is called CALL TO MIND and comes from the well-known hard rockers Polution. But let’s take a look at what the band has cooked up together with Tommy Vetterli (Coroner, Kreator).

Solid Start

The band, by their own account, thrives on their down-to-earth attitude. And that absolutely checks out when you crank up the first track „Don’t Wanna Leave Her“ like a tasty Swiss cheese fondue. You’re expecting hard rock – and you get it – but with a slight touch of rockabilly flair. Though I’m not entirely sure if that’s intentional or not. Either way, it sounds good and genuinely grounded. „Experience“ doesn’t need to hide either – it delivers solid tunes that could and should be played at your local biker bar. And for those who want to push it to the limit and need something for the radio: „Never Let Go“ fits the bill perfectly. Not too pushy, but confident. „Dreams“ makes you expect a calmer midpoint for the album, but then hits you with a charming rhythm that’s full of punch.

Intermezzo in the Middle:

Imagine you’re riding your bike, the smell of fresh motor oil and gasoline in the air, your partner riding pillion. You’re cresting a hill somewhere in the Swiss Alps, and suddenly a clear mountain lake comes into view. Over the roar of your engine, you can almost hear the live band playing on a makeshift stage, and you can already smell the beer. From that moment on, you know your weekend will be full of sex, booze, and rock’n’roll.

„S.O.D.“

Gives you exactly that vibe and rides with you straight to the finish line – while you’re parking your bike and getting your first beer handed to you. And while „Bittersweet“ lyrically deals with the end of a party, hey – Pascal Gwerder’s absolutely distinctive, raspy voice is a major highlight of the band and blends seamlessly into the heavy riffs. If we stick with that image: „Silence In Fall“ and „Last Goodbye“ accompany you as you’re taking down the tents after a wild weekend – with slightly calmer rock that still packs enough punch at its core to fit the band’s style.

Conclusion:

Polution can draw from a well of experience – and they do so extensively. While the album might lack a bit in variety, it still earns a solid 5 out of 6 skulls, making it an absolute must-have for all fans of hard rock.
